The Pawfect Beginning to your Pups First Groom
What does the puppy program involve?
Your puppy will become familiar with it’s new groomers whilst they learn from us in the salon over.a three weeks.
In the three weeks, we ensure that your puppy is properly exposed to grooming from a young age. We aim to make sure the dog is confident and not anxious when it comes to grooming and the various sounds that they will hear in a grooming salon. We introduce them to the sound of the clipper and hairdryer and also teach them to stay still whilst we scissor around their face and body. Your puppy will become familiar with taking baths and being washed with shampoo and conditioner, they will learn to enjoy the feeling of the hairdryer and brushing tools.
We start our first session by trimming around the eyes, the hygiene area, under the puppies paw pads and nails. Each session includes something new introduced to the dog. In this time they will receive their first wash and dry and then their first full professional groom.
In our experience all dogs grow and become comfortable with grooming at a different rate, some dogs are great from the start while others may need some more time adjusting.

Introduction
Pups are learning the new environment and what it means to be a puppy. The first experience groom can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. The Dog Barber takes this into consideration when taking your pup through their first groom.
Familiarity
Being familiar with the grooming salon, sounds and smells are important in a young puppy’s life. As being overwhelmed can be easy with the other dogs around, the familiarity of surroundings and senses is one of the reasons the puppy pack is a great service for your young one.
Positive Reinforcement
Reinforcing positive behaviour, your pup allowing us to trim closer to the eyes and face is one example of something we provide rewards for. Creating a positive experience is important during the early weeks/months of your puppys life.

Basic
Our Basic Puppy Program is best for those pups who want their paws in our door, to prepare them for a lifetime of grooming by our experienced groomers. Your puppy with receive a gentle approach to grooming as we introduce them to new aspects of grooming each week.
Taking time with your puppy is the best way to ensure their confident with all aspects of grooming, whilst also transferring to their everyday life. They will receive a 1x 90-minute introductory session and their first wash & dry, 1x wash, dry & tidy on their second session and their 1st full groom on their 3rd and final session.
